Breeding and Culling of the Icelandic Horse
In Iceland, there is a very high percentage of foals (and horses) being culled.
Some say that this high rate is the reason that we have the great horses that we have today.
(Personally, I think some of the horses are great *in spite* of the breeding and culling practices :-)).
Some people say that if the breeding practices were so good, there wouldn't be as many horses and foals to cull!
